I pulled across the Tennessee border on the road to Ezmerine
My truck heated over twice today, leaving a streak of mean
I’m all tongue tied and squinty-eyed from driving all those miles
But I’m almost back to Ezmerine and that’s enough to make me smile
Ezmerine, Ezmerine,
I just can’t believe that it’s true
Ezmerine, It’s like a dream,
I’m finally coming home to you
6 months working in a factory, trying to stay ahead of my loans
But Detroit City ain’t a kind town and I never felt more alone
I’ve only got a dollar and a heavy heart from working this friendless town
I’m almost back to Ezmerine and that’s enough to bring me ‘round
Ezmerine, Ezmerine,
I just can’t believe that it’s true
Ezmerine, It’s like a dream,
I’m finally coming home to you
I used to run a farm my pappy owned in the hills of Tennessee
But the land played out and the crops wouldn’t grow and it didn’t make a living for me
No Jobs down here, had to go up north, it seemed to be the only way
Now I’m almost back to Ezmerine and that’s where I’m going to stay.
Ezmerine, Ezmerine,
I just can’t believe that it’s true
Ezmerine, It’s like a dream,
I’m finally coming home to you
